What are anti-friction coatings like?
AFCs are products similar to paints but they contain superfine solid lubricant particles instead of dyeing pigment which are evenly distributed in the mixture of bonding agents (resins) and solvents with additives. As soon as the coating is applied, the solvent evaporates while the bonding agents cure and provide reliable adhesion with the substrate.
The cured AFCs are the molybdenum desulfide particles in the polymer matrix. The unique anti-frictional properties of such coatings are achieved due to the stratified structure of molybdenum desulfide.
AFCs reveal themselves most clearly during operation at high contact pressures and low speeds in metal-metal friction pairs.
